I Love My Kidneys is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people and supporting people who is affected by kidney disease by enhancing awareness and improving the quality of life of people with or at risk of kidney disease through education and support

Shirlena Sturghill-Barnett, in 2013, started a nonprofit organization called I Love My Kidneys. Due to Kidney failure, she had an desire to educate and spread awareness about kidney disease to help enhance the quality of life.  She is a wife to LaJarvon Barnett, a stepmother to three beautiful kids and also an Godmother to three children. She is the daughter of Winston & Beverly Sturghill. During Shirlena ‘s journey she wrote her first book “Mustard Seed “. It’s about her journey and her overcoming many challenges with kidney disease.

Mustard Seed is a book about a young woman whose life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Kidney Failure a month before her wedding at the age of 28. Not only was she becoming a wife and a stepmother, but she became a dialysis patient all in one month.
